Goan Fish Curry Recipe

Fish curry rice is the soul food for any Goan. We all love our fish curry rice and would enjoy it on any given day. Goan fish curry mainly comprises of coconut and other spices ground together. You can use any fish such as Kingfish, Pomfrets, Mackerels or even prawns for this curry.This is an easy curry which is the daily staple diet of most Goans. In today’s post, we will give you the traditional Goan Fish Curry Recipe

So let’s get started with our Goan Fish curry. We are using fresh  Kingfish (surmai) slices for this curry.

Goan Fish Curry Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 slices of medium Kingfish (Surmai Fish)
  • ½ scrapped coconut
  • 12 Kashmiri red chillies
  • ½ inch Ginger
  • 1tbsp coriander seeds
  • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 10-12 cloves of garlic
  • ½ tsp of turmeric
  • 1 small ball of tamarind
  • Curry leaves
  • 1 chopped onion

Method:

  • Grind the masala into a thick paste and keep it aside.
  • Apply some salt on the Kingfish slices and marinate them for 10 minutes.
  • Put some oil in the pan and add chopped onions.
  • Saute it for some time.
  • Now add the ground paste and mix it well.
  • Add salt and little water to the gravy for consistency.
  • Let it boil for 5 minutes and then add the Kingfish slices.
  • Lightly mix it so that the fish does not break.
  • Cook it for another 5-7 minutes till the Kingfish is cooked.
