Chicken chilli fry is my grandmother’s recipe and has been passed down through generations. I love eating this with chapatis or Goan poi. This chilli fry is not Chinese or Indo- Chinese recipe but this is a pure Goan side dish. Here we provide you with a Chicken Chilli Fry Recipe.
Tender, juicy perfectly stir-fried chicken and some green chilli to enhance the spring onion and tomato flavour. The spice flavour can be controlled by a number of chillies used.
This recipe is very easy to make and can be made by all. It’s a very delicious dish and is relished by one and all. It is also a popular Goan stir- fry which can be prepared with all the ingredients that are easily available at home.
One can make it more flavorful by adding spice powders and lots of fresh coriander. Lemon or vinegar adds in that a bit of tang to a chilli fry.
The main ingredients used are chicken, tomatoes, spring onions and potatoes. Roast and chilli fries are loved and enjoyed by goans .
Chicken Chilli Fry Recipe
Chicken – 250gms
Spring onions – 2 bunches (finely chopped)
Ginger-garlic paste – 1tbsp
Green chillies – 3 (finely chopped)
Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
Chilli powder – 1 Tsp
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Tomatoes – 4
Potatoes – 3 (finely chopped)
Parboil the chicken and cut into cubes.
- Add 2 tbsp oil in a pan.
Saute the spring onions for 5 mins.
Add the tomatoes, green chillies, garlic – ginger paste and saute for 2 – 3 minutes.
Add garam masala, chilli powder and turmeric powder and stir to 2 – 3 minutes.
Then add the chicken and mix well.
Cook on slow flame for 5 – 10 minutes.
Garnish it with coriander leaves.
Serve hot with chapatis or Goan poi.
