Pork Vindaloo Recipe

Pork Vindaloo is the traditional Goan pork dish which is made at every festive occasion or even otherwise.The rich red color comes from the Kashmiri chillies, but it is not very spicy. It is a mix of a spicy and tangy flavor. The original recipe of vindaloo was inspired by the Portuguese. The red wine was replaced with vinegar and more flavor was added by including different types of Indian spices. In today’s post, we have a simple and easy to make Pork Vindaloo Recipe for you.

Every festive season will definitely have Pork Vindaloo. Though there are many different versions of making Pork VIndaloo, we have followed the authentic version of Pork Vindaloo as it gives the old, ethnic taste. So here is the recipe for Pork Vindaloo.

Pork Vindaloo Recipe

Ingredients :

  • ½ kg Pork.
  • 8 to10 Kashmiri Chillies
  • 2 long sticks – Cinnamon.
  • ½ tsp of Jeera.
  • 1 inch Ginger.
  • 10 cloves Garlic.
  • ½ tsp of Black Pepper Corns.
  • 8 Cloves.
  • 1 bowl – White or brown Vinegar
  • ½ tsp of turmeric.
  • 1 Onion Chopped small.
  • 1 Onion – to be roasted.
  • A small bowl of tamarind water.
  • 1tsp of sugar.

Method :

  • Wash the pork pieces well and then marinate it with a little salt. Keep it aside for half an hour.
  • Roast one medium onion on the gas and remove the cover. Roughly chop the onion and grind it with the other spices. 
  • Grind all the spices alongwith the roasted onion, tamarind water and sugar. Do not use any water. Grind it in the vinegar itself till you have a thick paste.
  • Now rub the masala paste on the pork pieces nicely and marinate it for a couple of hours. You can also keep it overnight in the fridge.
  • Take a pan and add oil in it. 
  • Add the chopped onions and sauté it well. 
  • Now add the marinated pork and mix it well. 
  • Add salt to taste. 
  • You can cook it on a slow fire for around half an hour to 45 minutes till the meat gets cooked. Else put it in a pressure cooker and wait for about 4-5 whistles. 
  • Check whether the meat is cooked else take some more whistles.

Your Goan Pork Vindaloo is ready to be served with rice or bread.
